Hackathon for social ventures

The “startup weekend” model has been executed for decades across hundreds of cities globally. And now, for the first time, we are bringing the model to Birmingham.

Participants learn the basics of starting and launching a successful venture through a hands-on, immersive weekend experience. Participants start by pitching their ideas, forming teams, and then working together to turn those ideas into reality over the weekend.

Mentors, experienced entrepreneurs, and experts provide support and guidance as teams build prototypes, validate their business ideas, and develop marketing strategies.

Who should participate?

Everyone is welcome. You don't need prior experience or an idea to join.  We are particularly excited to meet people with a passion for creativing positive change and bringing fresh perspective.

Professionals & students— This is an opportunity for professionals to apply their skills and for students to learn about entrepreneurship. College students will be included in the general tech and sytems tracks; middle and high school students will participate in a designated “scholar track” facilitated by Breakthrough Birmingham.
